You may think you're fully prepared to bug out, but bug out preparations are a lot more than just stockpiling food, water, supplies, and assembling a top-notch bug out bag. You also need to ensure there's a plan in place to get yourself to a bug out location when the grid goes down.
Even if you don't have a bug out location setup, it's still vital to have a rugged vehicle you can depend on when SHTF. Think about it: when all of the stores are cleared out and police have abandoned their post, it's important to stop criminals from discovering your whereabouts. They are designed for fuel efficiency and safety, not SHTF reliability.
Today's vehicles simply won't do when it comes to being rugged.
That's why this list of 10 vehicles you should consider will save your butt. Find out which bug out vehicles won't let you down when the grid goes down.

EMP!
They would be better with mounted turrets..lol
Trash man has just as much knowledge of an area. Just saying because I was one for many years. May know places a taxi driver might not go
Horses when they break down eat it and take off running
Not a str8 axle but it’ll work
Why is Ford Bronco not on this list? It beats the hell out of any Garbage.Motors P.O.S. Blazer.
@ Seth Pinson they make great off road vehicles but lots of work needs done first…cummins 6bt engine swap and an axle swap from a 10 wheel drive 2 1/2 ton army truck and these become unstoppable
Axles are the best part..can swap them to blazers
Some have Kevlar lines doors and firewalls
Mine was absolutely terrible in the mud, I spent more time stuck than anything else. It seemed mine was geared too low, it was maxed at 80mph, and yet with that gearing still no power.
Blazer has solid front axle and os much better for general off roading verses the bronco’s ttb front suspension….most bronco’s built for off roading have had front solid axle swaps
James Sparkman
I put a 350 chevy in.mine and love it
I can’t believe the jeep wrangler didn’t make the list. light, fuel efficient, carbureted, 4×4, very agile and maneuverable
My 68 will be doing good once I get the pull start generator mounted on it
Having a cugv would be great, the amount of money and time to convert to 12V is a factor… To me, better to live in your bug out location, than to depend on any verhuicle, which at best will be difficult to keep fueled and running, as in extreme situations, roads will be blocked and tolls and f everything, to include your daughters and your life will be taken….. Remember, avoiding a fire fight is much better than flying nlead, which, no matter how good you think you are, and how good you prepped…. Can always come down to bad luck

Writing a list now. LOL
Lol
Saw a few still in use about 5 years ago.
Deuce and a half…
Mike LaBore I saw this and all thought was toxic
Jeep cherokee all the way. Not too flashy that it draws attention. 4.0 and 4WD will get you where you need to go.
Good to go!
Nathan
And the injector pump are s**t
Got mine. ’77 Scout 2
The Blazers we had in the AF had 454 gas engines (7.4 lt). Drove like a tank.
Its actually a 6.2 diesel. Very reliable engine. No power. Mine runs great, you must of had a lemon.
Nope, was a 5.7 first-then a 6.2
Gas lasts about 6 months with a stabilizer.
Just wait till I get done converting this Wade Riemenschneider. Can you say fully equipped with sleeping quarters, 4 wheel drive, climate controlled cabin. Shower etc. And of course appropriate armament .:)
Jay Slager
Yeah I saw this too
What color was the 5.7 diesel and who made it
I have a 94 4 runner 3.0 v6…terribly underpowered but in low range it will climb like a jeep
Because too many ppl soent time pushing them lol
Ive actually have had a gmc safari all wheel drive 4.6l vortec out hill climbing…was seriously impressed
The 5.7 was a reworked gasoline engine, crap I can’t remember what color but I know I had the 5.7 and not the 6.2.

Method to my madness
I think I’m good.
If you want to become a professional mechanic you’ll own one!!!
It all depends on the situation. If it is EMP all these modern vehicles are toast. All the big 4×4 are gonna suck all your gas. A four wheeler can carry a fair among and dirt bike will go anywhere. Don’t forget roads and bridges will be blocked. For rural folk can’t beat a horse. But if u live in a city. Rent a storage building next to your home. Get a four wheeler or dirt bike. Easier way to get out of dodge
6.2 was a caterpillar and a 5.7 350 was a reworked pos
Michael Merchant
I can guarantee gm never used the 5.7 in military diesels. The 6.2 is not a converted gas engine and is gm, not caterpillar.
Can carry way more gear than a jeep, and goes forever on a tank of fuel.
Try to feed a horse through winter.
Phil Gasaway very true
