Almost everything on that list is not readily available, not sustainable today, or not relevant.

The pre 2008 generation are simply great, I’ve had both an old one and a 2009, I liked the old one better and probably shouldn’t have upgraded it. Never failed as long as you knew how to wrench on it.

I would imagine if any of us make it that long we’ll be bartering or stealing a horse for sure!

I got a 1984 Toyota SR5 pickup wonderful 22 miles a gallon out 4 Wheel a 4 wheeler and go 80 MPH with enough road. I’ve had the 6.2 diesel motor in several Suburbans and Blazers. Unbreakable slow as my Toyota but still Unbreakable and about 35 miles a gallon on the old Diesel with red dye.

Older atvs should be on this list. I have to old 3 wheelers that run. One is a pull cord only to start. It has no battery at all and has no computer and the electricity is requires is generated by the motor. When parked it uses no power no battery to go dead when sitting for long periods of time and will go damn near anywhere.

Dude, that’s an army m1009. Military version of the Dodge Power Wagon. Solid, reliable, carbureted SUV.

Owned an 84 CUCV Blazer and it was my daily driver until the floor evaporated. It was no salt flat record setter but it would go a week on drops of diesel. Once you learned the nuances of how it ticked it was reliable everyday transportation. It wasn’t comfortable in heat or winters but could easily be fashioned to do so.

Not a good ‘first date’ veh….

John Shepherd M1009 is a Chevrolet Blazer. 6.2 mechanical fuel-injected diesel with a turbo 400 transmission.

    CUCV all the way!
You can keep the Duce and a half.
Worked on too many to to know parts are like trying to scaveng to keep a Studebaker on the road.

Those old military Chevrolet blazers are the biggest piles of junk, I know, I had one before. Weird 24 volt system, cracked the flywheel twice, was constantly breaking starter bolts off in the engine block, the engine is non-turbo has very little power, is totally worthless in the mud.

  16. Seth Pinson said:

The engine is a pos, a 350 block with some diesel heads, tada, it’s a 5.7 diesel now.

They arent emp proof but they are emp hardened. The p71 crown. Vic has atleast a dozen more grounding points than the ” granny versions”. To prevent emp burn out damages.
