Almost on topic: as a consideration to familiarize yourself with possible evacuation routes and getting a better general knowledge of your big city, consider taking a part time job as a taxi driver.

Yes you heard right, a taxi driver has a much more intimate knowledge of the big city. Companies like Uber and Lyft make it possible to get acquainted and make money at the same time.

At least that’s the revelation I had while getting my taxi license for NYC this year.

Yeah, these old military vehicles are hard to find and are not reliable. My 2010 Nissan pickup is far better than a duce and a half…your list needs a jeep, dirt bike/quad

CUCV great vehicle never got stuck. The 1st Humvees sucked in mud and muck. I got stuck once with the USAREUR deputy commander, division commander and brigade commander .I buried the Humvee in mud up past the middle of the doors. I had to wade through the muck and flag down an M88 to pull us out. This took place at Hoenfels West Germany.

I was forced to trade my faithful jeep for the all new cucv,,I kept putting it off and off, my co was pretty up set with me because i refuse to trade my jeep in, on 4 different field exercises we came across a lot of stuck or broke down cucv, my co commented to me wow these new vehicles are not very reliable,,I told him imagine that sir, and you wonder why I refuse to get rid of your jeep sir, we both sir would be walking had I followed your instructions to trade in your jeep, well finally I was ordered to trade in the jeep, on that day I also gave up my military drivers license, my excuse was I am a short timer, sir you need a new driver to go with your new not reliable not field tested cucv, saluted him and walked out of his office, I heard him on the phone telling the 1st sergeant to find him a new fucking driver, his exact words, miss them days.

Those military Blazers are cool. Our local school district has a bunch of them they use to tow around their big lawn mowers.

  13. Michael Taylor said:

Well…. When the SHTF this is the last vehicle you want to be in….. You don’t want to be wearing ANY tactical clothing or driving a Military type of anything…. Those that do… Won’t last long as they will be targets from both the state and those targeting provisions and gear.

Camo Blazer in a bug out?? You get shot first thing and your$#%&!@*stole camo is a bulls eye.

I think you have to look at the sustainability of your transportation also. Gas only lasts about 1 to 2 years with stabilizer added. Less without. Diesel about 5 to 7 years with a stabilizer added, less with out. A good 5 year old Gelding about 10 to 15 years. Although you may want a Stallion and a good Mare to extend their use. So maybe a good Diesel with a Horse trailer to get you to the wilderness and the horses to keep you going for years to come.

  18. Tommy Brooks said:

Come on…..89-93 dodge 5.9 mechanical diesel, dana axles, bed to haul supplies, no
Electronics to mess up from emp, good as it gets

Gotta give my old first gen. Trooper II “Further” some love. Don’t go nowhere fast, but she’ll climb a damn telephone pole. Especially since I gutted all the emission control bs out of her and took her back to 1930’s technology.
