Okay, steel wool on a windshield is a horrible idea. That's what everybody with common sense knows without a doubt. But keep an open mind and you'll find that that is not exactly correct.
Using superfine steel wool is actually a well-known windshield-cleaning trick among car detailers, and it makes their lives a lot easier because it works.
Their time is valuable, because the faster they can get done polishing the dead bugs from your window, the faster they can get moving on to the next vehicle, and the more money they can make.
So keeping that in mind, isn't your time valuable, too?
Learning how the pros do things is a great way to save time and to greatly reduce stress in your life. So how can you use steel wool to get your car windows to the ultimate clarity and shine?
Check out the video on the next page to learn this cool trick yourself.

If you spray some brick acid on the windshield then soak the steel wool in it its comes clean alot easier. * if you cant find brick acid use oven cleaner for a ultra streak free shine
If you’ve ever taken your car to a body shop, and had any paint work done to the car.. the detail department used steel wool on your windows to remove any overspray that managed to make it way past the masking.. personally I’ve used steel wool on thousands of windows. Never left a scratch, never damaged a window. You can’t use the steel wool on the inside of tinted windows (because the wool will scratch the plastic) but it can be, and is being used on the outside of vehicles every single day at body shops all over the world.
Dawn removes the wax

Newspaper and vinegar-water was the same solution we used in the Marines. Cleans glass perfectly.
Most of you speck of over spray removal using 0000 steel wool. I just use a razor blade.
I works.
Just tape it to your wipers and let the car do the work for you
Just make sure you use 0000 steak wool.
I’ve done that for years
Works great on bumpers too!
I’ve used this on my bumper as well, cuts the cleaning time in half.
I’m waiting for the 60 Grit Toilet Paper life hack on this page…
It’s not fast, it is horribly time consuming and will bend your knuckles backwards. If you have really bad waterspouts… you’ll be at it for hours.
Much faster to use buffing compound and an orbital sander with a green kitchen scratchy pad.
Use a clay bar to clean your windshield then use wax to get that show car perfect windows there is a great video on YouTube

Suck it
Ive used the 0000 the same way to clean over spray and minor rust off of chrome bumpers
Wow!!! Haha. Some idiot at work cleaned the windows with this for a week and you couldn’t see out of the window after that. Comical
When you do this there will be very fine metal particles on your paint below the paint. Wash your car immediately afterward to avoid tons of tiny rust spots caused by the left over metal sitting on your clear coat.
Been saying it for 15 years, everybody always thinks I’m crazy. Especially when I try to explain to them that glass is actually harder than steel. You can just see their brains melting down.
It shines the hell out of chrome too.
Don’t you believe it. You’ll do more damage and then you’ll be calling people like me to replace your windshield because you made a mess you can’t see thru. Smh

Had to comment because of the spelling… aren’t many of us around.
This is a old school trick. It does work to clean the glass,, newer glass has coatings on it & does damage them over time, plus when you clean the glass, all those tiny fragnents of raw steel find their way into every nook & crevice, expediting rust, in doors, plenum , anywhere the steel wool was used, anyone ever repaired window chanels,, botom of door cause of rust that started on the inside…
Jeramie, look at that.. you’re right. Not many out there who spell it like this.
I’ve tried everything on waterspots. ..I used dupont #7 rubbing compound, and that did it…I would not use steel wool,in fear of scratching the glass.#7 will NOT scratch it…
Why boycott someone who let’s people exercise their rights? Whether we like his opinion or not, it’s his right to do what he does..
Old trick used in the paint industry. Use water and the softest wool you can find. Never use on paint. gets rust off chrome too

Old news!
Lol youd be dead of scarred lungs by now. Pumice is nothing like glass
…whats this jave to do with “preppers”? lol..wtf
glass is an amorphous solid. this means it is NOT a solid, and it is NOT a liquid. Calling it a liquid over and over will not change that fact lol
Actually if you use double zero steel wool it will not scratch the glass if you lightly clean it I’ve been using it for years to clean my windshield and other class and it’s never left a scratch as long as you use Windex when you’re doing it
