The well prepared survivalist does not leave home or venture into the wild without a survival kit – just in case something goes wrong.

That kit is usually populated with modern, high-tech gadgets, stuff that is the product of centuries of survival kits being thrown together by adventurers.

Those early survivalists, however, did not have the gadgetry or the tech that we are fortunate to have now.

Their stuff was much more primitive and it is a good idea to understand what the average “old-time” survivalist might have included in their survival kit, for education reasons, but also to understand how that old time stuff affects how your gadgets work!
