Safety & Law Enforcement Uses:

4. Gas detection – specially calibrated thermal cameras can be used to detect the presence of specific gases at industrial sites or around pipelines.

5. Road safety – see people or animals beyond the reach of vehicle headlights or streetlights.

6. Disease control – quickly scan all incoming passengers at airports and other locations for elevated temperature (as seen during the SARS, Bird Flu, Ebola and other recent outbreaks).

It's good to know this handy gadget can help with road safety, not to mention disease control! Imagine being able to find out if someone may have a disease during a SHTF situation when there aren't a lot of other methods available to you. It could be life-saving!

After the break check out wildlife uses for the thermal imaging tool. One, in particular, is such a great idea!

I wouldn’t mind having one of those. Even at 100m, it would still be handy.

For the people saying $600 bucks isn’t cheap. Rewind just a short 9 years ago and these things were the size of a cinder block with shitty resolution selling for around 10k. Yeah $600 is still expensive for the average consumer such as myself but compared to what they were that’s way more affordable. Hell last time I was at a gun show I seen a thermo selling for 70 bucks and it could attach to your iPhone.
