No it doesn’t. I work on Antebellum homes, and have been using 0000 steel wool to clean 150+ year old glass, for years. Also use it to clean glue residue after removing old window tint from car windows.

Here’s a tip: rubbing anything in a CIRCULAR motion gets the dirt and debris off a lot faster. I learned this when having to clean mold out of rental bathrooms.

Do the fenders and doors too!!!

Does it have to be 3M? I’m broke, so if I could use a generic brand that’d be fantastic.

  21. Kevin Dunn said:

Rob Markward yes you can actually make these at home with little effort and don’t even need a grinder. Go outside and find a rock smash it up with a hammer put the dust on the sticky side of duct tape and scrub your window to the desired sheen.

I’ve done this for YEARS ! ! ! use the 0000 with alittle glass cleaner & dry with old newspaper.
    Can’t get windows any cleaner.

Wrap it around your windshield wipers. Helps remove stuck on bird poo and bug juice. Make sure to do it without water though. That will just spread it around…….
