You've undoubtedly read about mountain lions. They are after all one of the most feared predators in the United States, and most of this fear is caused by misunderstanding these wild creatures. Though, they certainly are dangerous enough that you should respect them.
The chances of you coming across a mountain lion are slim to none since they tend to be reclusive creatures that are fearful of humans. They rarely attack humans but never say never.
Even though being attacked by a mountain lion is rare, attacks could have been prevented by learning ahead of time what you should and should not do. Follow these rules and you'll have a better chance of surviving if you were ever to come across one of these predatory animals.
Find out what you should and more importantly shouldn't do should you ever encounter a mountain lion on the next page.

These articles never suggest shooting as a means to repel an attack. I would have a lion throw rug…..if I could keep my nerve up and shoot straight.

This is how I learned to fight big cats.

I purchase a Lion tag every year in case I have an encounter with a big cat. I am always armed. I don’t necessarily hunt them and don’t mind not filling the tag. But, should our paths cross the kitty is getting ventilated. LOL
I totally forgot about guy on a Buffalo
Just picked one up as my hunting/ hiking sidearm
Or like George Anton said a Colt .45 will do just fine.
Thomas Jefferson wrote about his favorite companion when walking in the Woods was a GUN!
45 colt can be loaded quite hot. There is some buffalo bore options that are hotter then 44 mag. I prefer a semi auto for the reload speed. A 220 grain hardcast at 1200 fps is still quite potent.

Fk the cat, people is what you stay clear of.
Don’t mistakenly grab your m&p 15-22 instead of your 5.56 and shoot it in the head. Ask me how I know……
If you see a lion, it is very likely your being stalked.
If its illegal to have a gun in those woods you’re in the wrong country bud
So you don’t name it Steve French and feed it a bunch of weedjitas?

Air horns stun their senses. If your first line of defense is to kill something, sorry but that is savagely coward.
The first line of defense is survive an attack by a wild animal in the wilderness without injury or death to myself or my companions. The wilderness does not know cowardice. It knows the living, the injured and the dead.
Lol! This is why I go into the wilderness! ☺
I’m not dead yet.
What a stupid statement. A predator will attack from behind and without warning, especially a big cat.
Just like an animal you must be aware in the wild. People are simply too domesticated. Detached from nature.
After what break? You’re an article not a tv show.
I suggest to this site not to keep sending you page after page after page into their storyline!! And for that reason alot of ppl will say piss on it and never read your damn story.
Tastes like chicken.
Come through 20 feet from horse and steer several times. Cats and chicken have disappeared though.
Prepped Survivalists article.Like living off the grid when SHTF.Humans will be more dangerous than wild life.
I beleive we are beginning to reap the rewards of decades of successful conservation efforts. While it great that speceis are bouncing back, I think it’s becoming more and more prudent to be armed while off the beaten path.
They dont want to encourage people to shoot the animal, sonce that’s still illegal. But if you back in the woods legal isnt always the first concern. I have seen bears shrug off pepper spray and bullets bounce off skulls.
Simple but obviously one should be safe in a city without such distraction
44 mag.
Love the 10mm
So here kitty kitty kitty is not recommended. :]
#14: Quickly spread butter on your neck as a sign of friendship.
John Driskill, which is exactly why I will be reaching for my sidearm, not my rape whistle, and hoping I get a chance to walk away.
Exactly!
“In pistol we trust”.
What to do when coming across a mountain lion: remove pistol from holster and ready…
When a predator has made the decision to attack not much will sway them. Yes, you can detour them while they are evaluating but, once they decide making big and loud won’t matter much.
It isn’t illegal to shoot Mt Lion in all states. Just screwed up states like CA.
In a survival situation, the cat would be dead anyway. Seriously, food & a warm skin! It’s a no brainer.
Id just shoot it and be done!
Nope, not clicking to next page!!!
You won’t have time to get to your gun. They charge at less than 50 feet. Better to carry a thick blade so after it’s on you on the ground and you just realized what it is you might be able to get to your blade and gut the thing. One other thing, try to jam it’s cheek tissue into its mouth. Cats don’t like biting themselves. But yeah your gun…you’ll just die with it.
Very true it does depend on state
How do you know?
Let’s just say this guy I know did it and kisses the cat off and almost ended up on the menu lol
Michael Rowan do you speak from experience?
