Taking the time to construct a thatch-this or fir bough-that type of shelter is great – if you have the skills and the time. While long-term, either is a worthy goal, in most survival situations, at least at first, just surviving the night is the priority – and that means your shelter must be quick, easy, durable, warm and weather proof.

This amazing shelter is primitive, but easy to build. That is the goal, especially at first in a survival situation or SHTF moment.
