While we love one item for multi purposes, it is always advisable  – in some cases – to have various devices that will take up the slack of one use.  This is very important if that “use” is a stove for cooking.

Think about an outside wood oven. That’s sincerely terrific but what if it rains, snows or the wind make it difficult?

Solar is an option for a cooktop or oven. It is environmentally friendly and works well with the rays … but then again you have an ever-present threat of cloud cover.

Although it’s a little bit of an investment up front, propane tanks and small green bottles obtained from Walmart are the cheapest and most long lasting fuel you can use for cooking. There is an adapter, often sold at Walmart but can be purchased online, that will refill the green canisters from the larger propane tanks. I don’t know how long it takes for propane to go bad but I’ve used it when it was years old.
