The velocity on the dart used in this is not terribly forceful, but the fundamentals of how a crossbow and bow and arrow technology works is sound.

Making this project, experiencing the tension of the string and bow gives you a good idea of what is needed should you have to make your own bow and arrow or crossbow.

Crossbows are a very effective weapon for hunting and protection and while this model, make of paper, Popsicle sticks and tape are not formidable in terms of lethality, it gives you a great idea of the dynamics and design needed to make an effective hunting tool.
