While many Zippo purists will advise strongly against pouring any fuel other than lighter fluid into a Zippo lighter, there are many others who say that anything flammable will work. Is it true? Find out below. This is one hack that you can't pass up, especially when SHTF!

You would think that lantern fuel, being a flammable petroleum-based liquid like lighter fluid, would work just as well for a Zippo. However, lantern fuel is far less refined than lighter fluid, which is why it's so much cheaper and smokes so much more.

The reason you should rely on lighter fluid is because the soot from lantern fuel or other flammable liquids (gasoline included) can gunk up your lighter and make it impossible for the wick to absorb more oil.

However, this will work in a pinch, as demonstrated in the video. Be warned, though; using other fluids and depending on them to work when SHTF is risky, at best.
