For thousands of years, ancient peoples relied on a variety of weapons to bring down game and defend their territories from hostile invaders.
These weapons did not undergo any significant changes for thousands of years until metallurgy was developed. Now we had blades that performed the same purposes much more effectively. Then guns came along and replaced the swords and battle axes.
However, in some parts of the world, people still rely on the most primitive weapons to hunt and to carry out warfare with other tribes. This is for the simple reason that these weapons WORK, and they've seen no reason to change.
If you find yourself in a survival situation, relying on ancient weapon designs is going to be the smartest thing you can do, both for their simplicity and effectiveness.
The simplest weapon of all is a throwing stick. Commonly used for small game, it can also take down prey as large as a deer.

Deer would be vary hard to take down with a small stick put thy will smell u and see u before u get to close put in a tree would increase yr odds at the right angle and force
I knew a guy (ex Navy seal) used to,turn with nothing but a knife. Did what Don said, climbed into a tree over a trail, waited till one walked under and dropped on it. He was crazy.
Didn’t always get one but more often than not. He always said “just gotta be patient”.
