It is always wonderful hearing stories about men who are survivalists, having gone out for weeks into the unknown. They prove that their tips and hacks work well enough as they camped out in a tent or their bug-out shack.
But, for a survivalist, the true fun and challenge comes in listening to men and women who have actually lived the archetype.
We are talking about those brave souls that have decided to really live hard, moving into the wilderness for a year or more. This shows it isn’t just an ideal but a sincere way of life for them and for our future selves when the SHTF!
On the next page, we have a wonderful film “Alone In the Wilderness” that follows survivalist Dick Proenneke, as he lives in an Alaska wasteland.
His is an amazing chronicle and we get to watch him build a cabin, hunt, and explore its beauty!

saw the documentary a few years back,, recorded it,, it would kill most men today…..
Awesome documentary. I would encourage everyone to watch all of it. Our local PBS channel ran it and I was enthralled. This man has so many ingenious methods of survival and makes his owns tools. He stayed there into his eighties, then finally agreed to leave at his family’s request. A must -see!
I made it a point to get the DVD after watching it on pbs. One of the best docs ever made!
I was there a year after he left the Alaskan Bush in 98

The first survival man…built cabin with bare gand and basic tools
Someday I will live like that…peace and quite
I have the book about his first year building and living in his cabin, it’s a fantastic read! I think it’s called one mans wilderness, but it’s amazing to read how competent this man was at living and thriving alone in the wilderness.
Watch his documentories every time it comes on PBS.
This is awesome.
