The reason we read all of these articles on survival is so that one day, hopefully, we'll be able to take care of ourselves should the worst happen. That's the idea, anyways. But real survival is far different from the practice runs we go on and the staged events we see on the TV shows.

In real life, you have no back door, no way out. It's literally sink or swim; you'll either survive your horrific event and live to tell the tale or you won't.

There are those who are hardened survival experts who have gone into situations they couldn't handle. Accidents happen that nobody can plan for, which is why a big part of true survival is a gut-wrenching roll of the dice.

However, there are also those who have no survival preparation whatsoever that come out on top. These are the individuals that roll a lucky 7 on the dice, and these are their stories.
