(Video) The Swedish Torch Fire Never Gets Old. Here’s a Reminder Why This Bug Out Trick Is Pure Genius:

swedish torch fire

The first time we were introduced to the Swedish Torch was on a beach camping trip with family. We set up camp, which was close to a church group, and they invited us over to sing and enjoy smores. It was dark, we could hear the waves off in the distance, and there was the fire.

They actually had two Swedish Torch Fires going at the same time. I recall asking one of the adults how they kept the fire going. There was a joke about “Greek fire.” We never told our parents but we really did think it was magical and, believe it or not, still do.

Of course, we know all the ins and outs of the Swedish Torch now but it still carries us back to those days of innocence and I now cannot look at one without thinking of smores! Humorously, our host on the next page also introduces marshmallows by the end of the video and we so want to be there with him! LOL!

Seriously though, watch this terrific video after the break. It will remind you how cool a Swedish Torch is and, if you are unfamiliar, you will learn what a great survival creation it is!

This works very well. However, if you’re in the woods, getting a good, flat surface to cook on is a challenge. You will most likely have to use a smaller piece of wood to split and a hand saw to get the surface you need. I always carry a saw but not a lot of people do.

I use mostly a percolator and a dutch oven.
Ive found if you dig out a little hole and use 2 to 4 inch diameter. Limbs in a square you can create tge same fire and use 2 forked sticks and a longer one to hang your pots from
Its actually a lot easier to do thsn spilting a larger log
