(Video) Survival Gardening: Focus on These Foods for Success

It is great to grow your own food – especially comfort foods like tomatoes, cucumbers, etc., but those foods generally do not provide you with enough to survive on.

By focusing on four main types of crops, you can ensure that you can survive the winter months, even if all you eat are those foods.

Potatoes, corn, beans, and squash are not all that exciting; but they are all life sustaining if push comes to shove.

Because of that, while you should grow the “funner” vegetables, you should designate part of your garden to the staples and if you do not have room for anything else, focus solely on them.

Remember, a survival garden’s purpose is survival.
