As we have become more survival conscious, many of us have learned how to grow a lot of our own food in a garden.
While in one sense, that is great news, too often, because of ignorance, we have focused on growing the wrong kinds of food if the goal is long-term survival.
Instead of focusing on staple foods, we focused on growing vegetables that undoubtedly tasted good, but only lasted for about as long as they could be harvested.
Even if we preserved them, many would not sustain us if that was all we had to eat!
What we should have been focused on was growing the types of crops that would allow us to survive for an extended period of time.
