As survivalists, we're familiar with the concept of people “living off the grid”. But it's always encouraging to hear stories of people who don't just talk about it, but who actually do it.
In today's post, it's not just one person either. It's an entire community who have taken a stand and opted to live their lives in an amazing way. They live on an island near Vancouver and while some have solar power, gas generators and even a hydro turbine, only a few really enjoy the luxury of a hair dryer and laptop computer.
What follows is a terrific video about Jerry, Jacob, Al, Tiki, Stacey, and others who have decided to live their own way in “the land that time forgot”.
Mentally, it is an easier life but physically you need to be able to support yourself, those you love, and be willing to be oh so flexible.
The area is forest and water with wildlife, domesticated life – just wait until they introduce you to Tiki and her pets! – and what the people who live there consider a treasured way of life.
