Machetes can be invaluable in a survival situation – long or short-term. Making one by hand takes a lot of effort, but is possible and well worth the effort!
As you can see from the video, making a machete by hand is a lot of work.
In a SHTF moment or survival situation, however, having a machete could be invaluable.

Dig the video. I really like this kind of stuff since I am limited on power tools since there is a lack of plugs in the woods.
Anything made without power is helpful in a survival situation.
I have one made by an ex college roomate from Guatemala. Blades only 20″ long with a 9″ handle (for two handed swings). Blade is more than a 1/4″ thick and heavy. But it’ll slice threw just about anything and could easily double as an axe.
