It’s a constant Winter struggle. You wake-up in the morning, prepare to go to work, then look outside and see that snow is on the ground. That can mean only one thing – someone has to go out and clean off the windshield before you go.
You may look over a shoulder at the spouse, but she is preparing breakfast. The kids? Nah, they’re just waking up to go to school.
As usual it’s up to you – but what is the best way to get it done? Miserably, you recall last year when pouring a bucket of hot water only made things worse. There’s got to be a better way!

For my car I just cover the windshield with a towel. When it snows or frosts just pull up towel, throw in a grocery bag, jump, and go.

I heard from someone that rubbing alcohol works. I would think that could hurt the paint
I’ve used an old bed sheet with the wipers in the up position and covered the windshield using the wipers to hold down the bed sheet.
It will curve to the window cause it freezes but never froze to the window or anything.
And I would start it up and turn on the defrost to clear the fogging
Then I put a little rubbing alcohol in the washer tank to keep it from freezing

Use Rain-x before it snows. It makes it easy to scrape the ice off. Deicer works well too. If you don’t have any you can make your own. Use one part water and one part alcohol (alcohol doesn’t freeze).
Pretty easy solution: If you have to be someplace, go out to you vehicle early enough to clean it off properly. If it takes 20 minutes to get where you are going in the winter, don’t go out 20 minutes and 30 seconds before hand, then complain about it.
