Sleep in a survival situation is one of those key elements almost everyone overlooks, especially in a situation where stress, anxiety and blood pressure is running high.

Understanding how lack of sleep affects you, though, is key to combating it and also helps you understand how important it is to sleep when you can, as much as you can, conditions permitting.

While studies are not all that extensive or conclusive, it is a known fact that lack of sleep coupled with stress and anxiety – all factors in a survival scenario – can lead to very poor decisions making and that can be deadly.

It is critical, even in a survival setting, that you get at least a minimal amount of sleep in order to function coherently and that means grabbing sleep whenever it is safe to do so and you can.
