While many shelters will keep out the rain and block out the wind, very few offer such amenities as a real working fireplace. Watch this survivalist build his below.

This is so impressive, I doubt there are few among us who don't want to build one of these in our backyards right now. What's so great is that this was built entirely of rocks and mud, yet it is incredibly strong (you saw how he had to chip away at it to make the hole for the fireplace) and weather-proof.

While I'm not sure it could stand up to a hurricane, there are very few handmade shelters that can, and this one would definitely outdo all of the others.

This mud hut is just another example of how traditional skills can still kick butt.
