A celt stone axe is a prehistoric tool made of stone or bronze. They have been around for thousands of years, as many museum artifacts can demonstrate.

They were used for hunting, cutting down trees, and had various uses for construction. They started out “unhafted,” or without a handle. Once people started attaching the sharpened stone to a pole, they realized how much easier it was to maneuver!

The shaped stone, or celt, is fixed to the axe using a groove in the handle.

If you find modern weaponry a little too convenient… have you ever considered making your own prehistoric weapon? And have you considered using only prehistoric, primitive tools to make it?!

Well, here’s how to do it. Learn how to make a primitive stone ax from scratch after the break!
