[VIDEO] How To Make A Dakota Fire Hole In Nature

The Dakota fire hole is a quick, safe, easy and reliable method of cooking if you do not have traditional cooking options. This amazingly simple “stove”is something virtually anyone can do regardless of their overall levels of survival skills.

The average time it takes to make a Dakota fire hole is realistically about 15 minutes. it is especially handy if you need to cook something either very quickly were over a longer period of time.

    5:15 seconds to make water boil + the time to dig the two holes and process the wood you’re looking at around 20 minutes minimum (realistically more like 30 minutes). I could boil water with a regular camp fire in less then 15 minutes…from scratch. The dakota fire hole is a joke.

    Seriously, the guy in the video makes a big deal about how fast water boils over it but honestly I didn’t think it was very fast…especially considering all the work that needs to be done beforehand. The only selling point of this method is that the fire is harder to detect from outsiders.

    That’s the only thing this fire is useful for. Then again, it’s easy to start in very windy conditions too, and cleanup is as simple as filling in the hole
