When you decide to live off the grid you may be giving up some things. However, you will gain some things as well.
In this video from VICE, you get to see how people are living without laws in a place known as Slab City. You might be stunned when you see how they are living!
Wow! They way they live in slab city is incredible. It is out in the middle of the desert. One guy cruises around on a scooter made out of a cooler. The land is one of the last free places to live in the country and it is owned by the state of California and a teachers union.
Slab City is also free from highways and all of the other culture that is in the rest of California. People live out of campers and tents and they believe in “live and let live.” If you truly want to live off the grid, then you might just want to go to Slab City!

Not a very good example!
One can enjoy the same freedoms and lifestyle but in dozens of other places with out the desolation and heat. But hey each to their own and best wishes to them.
That’s a real harsh place to live. Laws or not, you have to be pretty hardy to survive there.

Iirc the good people of Slab City don’t really want a buch of touristas and carpet baggers coming to Slab City but they definitely set an example.
Just let them try and do something that CARB finds objectionable and find out how free from laws they are
