Not a very good example!
One can enjoy the same freedoms and lifestyle but in dozens of other places with out the desolation and heat. But hey each to their own and best wishes to them.
That’s a real harsh place to live. Laws or not, you have to be pretty hardy to survive there.

Iirc the good people of Slab City don’t really want a buch of touristas and carpet baggers coming to Slab City but they definitely set an example.
Just let them try and do something that CARB finds objectionable and find out how free from laws they are
