(VIDEO) He Took Out a Lemon to Start a Fire. When I Saw How He Pulled This Off? Slack-Jawed!

starting a fire with a lemon

Lemons can be used for a lot of things, from making delicous lemonade to finding papercuts that you didn't know you had. While those purposes are well-known, one that is very often left in the dark is the use of a lemon to light a fire. Check out the video below to learn how.

Again, this is a pretty cool trick that would probably net your kid some serious points if they tried it out at the next science fair (if they didn't get suspended for having an “inflammatory device” on school grounds). Plus, if all you really have is lemons, nails, steel wool and some copper wire (let's say you stumbled into the tool shed in a lemon orchard) and you need to start a fire, it is an insanely useful tip.

However, rather than carrying lemons and the associated hardware in our bug out bags, maybe we should stick to a 1 oz. lighter.
