(VIDEO) He Took Out a Lemon to Start a Fire. When I Saw How He Pulled This Off? Slack-Jawed!

starting a fire with a lemon

There are a lot of creative methods for making fire out there, from a battery and a bubble gum wrapper to making a magnifying glass with a condom. Sure, the tried and true method is to pull out a Bic lighter or a box of matches and strike up a flame with minimal effort.

However, there are many survivalists/traditionalists who balk at this method, electing to veer instead towards complicated processes to extract flame from every source available to anyone.

Hence, we have this video of a man who instead of using a $1 lighter to ignite his birch bark chose to use a lemon and steel wool. I guess if life gives you lemons, you should also ask for 12 nails, some copper wire and a bundle of ultra-fine steel wool so that you can, at least, have a fire.

To see just how he carries out this admittedly-cool experiment, check out the video on the next page.
