Crossbows are one of the most complex survival weapons you can make from scratch. The stock of the bow must be smooth to prevent the string from being cut against it.
The bow itself must be sufficiently strong yet supple enough to send a shaft flying, at least, a hundred feet.
The most difficult part, the trigger, must be able to hold the tension of the string and yet be loose enough to send the arrow flying with just a touch of your finger.
With all of these difficulties, it probably doesn't occur to many survivalists just how valuable this weapon is when made properly. A well-made crossbow allows for excellent accuracy and tremendous power when compared with a primitive bow.
To learn just how quickly and easily one of these primitive crossbows can be to make, watch the video on the next page.
