The agave plant is well-known as the wonderful succulent that gives us tequila. However, when you have a giant gaping hole in your tent or coat, there is an even better use for this plant. Find out more in the video below.

Almost as though it has been made solely for this purpose, the agave certainly earns its keep with this nifty little trick.

Apart from its use as a makeshift needle and thread, the natural needle of the agave leaf can also be put to work in snares and even fishing hooks if you can find a water hole or stream out there in the desert.

As with all survival tools, you should try and figure out as many potential uses as you can for this material.
