Otzi the Iceman was an ancient man found frozen in a glacier in the Alps on the border between Austria and Italy. He is estimated to have lived about 5000 years ago and has given archeologists many insights into how people lived back then, as Otzi is a unique example of a natural mummy.
One of the most interesting things about Otzi was the ax that was found among his possessions. It is made of 97% pure copper, which makes it one of the most valuable tools of the age and suggests that Otzi was involved in copper smelting.

What brings you to this conclusion? How do you explain Otzi’s copper axe?
They said they were going to show how it was made. I did not expect anything used from the iron age. And it was more likely copper was found raw and not smelted from a ton of rock.
And the type of casting sand used was developed in modern times as well.
