Often, we hear on the evening news or an entertainment report about the intelligence of various animals or celebrity pets we have all known and loved. Because they are so clever and cute many animals are featured on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and, of course, television.

Yet, appearing brainy and actually being smart are two different things. Animals, particularly the wilder types, have to use their smarts to live in the wild. What or who are the animals that seem to be the best at surviving and using their intelligence to do it?
