One thing that is always amazing to me as I research various survival and outdoor topics is how expensive a lot of the stuff you see people recommending as “must have” actually are.

Let's face it, you could spend a small fortune on various survival items and use them sparingly at best and in some cases, never at all.

For most of us, survival preparedness is important and we invest in it when possible, but we do not have a ton of cash to be throwing at gizmos, trinkets and gadgets.

That is where creativity comes in. For the most part, if you shop carefully and routinely visit places like flea markets, yard sales, etc., you can find what you need for a survival kit and find it at a reasonable price.
