When SHTF at some point store bought weapons will no longer be useful. It's not something you may have ever considered before, but over the months and years, it'll become more and more probably. Your store bought weapons will wear down and in their place, you'll need something else you can make.
Sure, your gun and knife will last a long time but when you run out of cleaning solution and sharpening a dull knife becomes more and more difficult, you'll begin to seek out different ways to protect yourself.
If you have a family you may want to teach them how to use weapons, just be sure you watch and show them carefully! A prepper does not need expensive supplies to keep their family safe — just an idea and using that clever mind will suffice!

Keep your Smith & Wesson clean dry and oiled and use a shoulder holster (Not leather) and remember, ammo will last a long time….And never trust re-loaded ammo….start with new brass. I know it’s not politically correct to promote guns these days, but it is almost criminal to tell people they can fight with toy weapons!

I have actually killed small animals with some of these weapons. In an SHTF situation something like this can be the difference between life and death.

Anyone who laughs at this post laughs at his own peril! On an island of blind people, a one eyed man is KING! And so it is with weaponry! Google the Komoto Dragon. Yes, he is large enough to not mess with but that is not his most powerful weapon! Infection inflicted on his victim and time is. When the SHTF, any weapon is a tremendous asset to possess. KNOWLEDGE IS YOUR BEST ASSET TO ASSURE SURVIVAL AND IT MATTERS NOT WHERE IT COMES FROM! I will listen to a child if he or she is smarter than I am and perhaps you would be wise to do the same. Remember the child who survived the aliens in the movie? Draw any conclusion you like but she outlasted the enemy ’til help arrived! One more example of a childs’ wisdom, if you will.
