Tips For Making Fire In The Snow Or Damp Conditions

As any survivalist knows, fire is a major component in a survival situation; in fact, in extreme conditions it could very well be a life saver.

It warms us, provides protection, allows us to cook and provides a sense of comfort, which allows for rest and that can be a life saver in a SHTF environment.

Unfortunately, for at least half the year, for most of us, wet, cold and snow are pervasive, making starting a fire a real challenge.

Luckily, however, there are “tips of the trade” you can use to make sure you can always start a fire in all but the most inhospitable, wet situations (like a downpour.)

The video on the next page demonstrates starting fire in wet conditions and shows a lot of tips regarding setting up a fire base that will ensure you will have a reliable fire source for as long as you need it.

Craziest best tool I saw was a section of the body of an aluminum arrow, with surgical tubing attached. Push the arrow into the hot spot in the fire you are begging to start, then blow into the hose. It was amazing how well that worked.

Built a fire in the middle of a snow storm, took about 14 minutes but I had a fire. All you have to do is plan, look at your surroundings and gather material as you go. Cat tail goes up like gasoline, very effective for starting a fire in extreme circumstances. Just my 2 cents.
