The Venus Project Envisions a Sustainable Redesign of Cities and Civilization

future homes

These are lovely homes, with a good inspiration behind them, and seem very comfortable. Yet, we cannot help finding ourselves a little leery. However, those who write and back The Venus Project are eager to assure that their vision is above board.

A main idea of The Venus Project is to move past politics. Meadows said politicians are rarely experts on preventing climate change or developing clean energy sources, for example. Instead, they often work to maintain the status quo and serve the interests of the wealthy and powerful.
Meadows told Futurism: “It is not ethical people in government that we need but equal access to the necessities of life and those working toward the elimination of scarcity. We would use scientific scales of performance for measurement and allocation of resources so that human biases are left out of the equation. Within The Venus Project’s safe, energy-efficient cities, there would be interdisciplinary teams of knowledgeable people in different fields accompanied by cybernated systems that use sensors to monitor all aspects of society in order to provide real-time information supporting decision-making for the well-being of all people and the protection of the environment.”

Do not get us wrong but when we started to look at photos of the structures and also read about The Venus Project being more than just architecture but also about social design that is designed to conserve resources and maintain a high standard of living, we immediately thought of Aldous Huxley’s novel, Brave New World written in 1931. Also, to a lesser extent, William F. Nolan’s 1967 novel (and movie) Logan’s Run.

These future structures are indeed inspired and beautiful, and forgive us for sounding skeptical in the light of new technology and potentially better world, but if we hear a voice like HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey telling us the chip being installed in our forearm upon entry is a necessity, we may turn around and go back to our bug-out shelter in the wilderness!

Wow. Very progressive of you to post this. Also interesting, check out the Survivor Library, and the Open Source Ecology projects. Both forward thinking like the Venus Project is, but with a different slant to each of them.

This is nothing more than Brave New World and Logan’s Run dressed up! Who will be in charge? Not the citizens, if they partake of this!

I agree! Anything connected with the U.N. is bad news for America. Defund it and get it off our soil.
