Stain Your PVC Pipes to Look Like Wood for an Aesthetically Pleasing (and Affordable) DIY Cabin Project!

PVC Pipes into wood

PVC pipes are ugly and can easily distract from an otherwise nice room or clever project. Take away that distraction and add nothing but aesthetics by disguising your PVC pipes to look like wood. Take a look at the steps below!

In order to complete this project, you're going to need:

– PVC (of any size)
– Heavy Metal File
– 100 Grit Sandpaper
– Artist Oil Paint (an wood color to provide that organic look)
– Dust Mask, to prevent PVC dust from getting in your lungs.

Once you've gotten these things together, making your PVC pipes look like organic wood is as simple as the following steps:

Step 2: Sand The PVC.
Your PVC should have a nice matte finish.
Step 3: File Away!
Pull the file in many directions to give it an organic look.
Give the plastic a few extra rubs with the sandpaper.
Step 4: Add Some Color.
Wipe it on with a rag, making sure to work it into all the new grooves. You can use some faux finish techniques for extra texture, blotting the paint on in irregular patterns instead of bush strokes. Let it dry. That's it!

A PVC upgrade is not only easy and fun to do, but it looks incredible. No one will be able to tell the difference! Start adding this look to all of your PVC projects, like storage containers and blowguns. It'll add a bit of class to your experiences, and will make your adventuring companions start begging you to tell them your PVC upgrading secret.

This is a really awesome trick that we can't wait to try out. If you want to see the whole process, start to finish, check out the original article on Instructables.
