Unfortunately, not everyone is in a position to own a bug-out property, which means if the SHTF moment arrives, they have to have an alternative to go to that is safe and sustainable.

This video highlights the availability of state and federally owned campgrounds and how in a pinch, they can be used as a temporary haven to wait out a bug-out situation.

Campgrounds are not ideal if you are anticipating a major SHTF moment or long-term survival situation, or one in which civil unrest is widespread, mainly because if they are maintained by the government, the issue of control is raised and if they are not, eventually the facilities will break down.

They are, however, especially late into the season or offseason, a perfect place to bug-out to for a few days.
