Homesteaders have known for years the benefits of honey. We still remember, as a child, our Grandmother pulling out the honey jar during the first indication of a family cold and flu epidemic. A bottle of wine came later but that is another story … LOL.
Over time we learned other things can be added to the mixture to not just stave off that cough but also sooth muscles and, should a fever start, bring the heat down. And if everything you have I the home is genuinely homemade – all the better.
Now, we’re not saying you have to become a bee keeper but fresh lemons and growing some thyme in the garden is not an altogether bad idea. And all of these ingredients are used in a successful, not to mention tasty, cough syrup over on page two!
