When making the decision to bug out, very often the first thing on a person's mind will be food, and more importantly, how to cook it.

Hopefully, you have a small camp stove in your bug out supplies. This will serve you as an easy source of comforting warm food and, if you need it, heat.

Unfortunately, unexpected things can happen. The stove you depended on may have a critical malfunction or become broken. In a worst-case-scenario, we've forgotten it completely. Now we are left with the conundrum of how we will cook our food or boil water.

While there is always the option of starting a fire, countless things can make this much harder than it at first seems. What if it has rained and there is no dry fuel for the flames? Perhaps you're in an arid environment, and wood is hard to come by. Not to mention the fact that cooking on an open fire is notoriously difficult.

Luckily, if you have a toolbox in your bug out vehicle and a couple of aluminum cans, the problem of having no working stove can be easily remedied by making your own with minimal supplies and effort.

Read on to learn how after the break.
