Making your own arrow fletchings is one way to get closer to your weapons as you strive to get back to the basics as it pertains to hunting.
It also is a good skill to know just in case you find yourself in a survival situation and your traditional or “go-to” approach to defense or hunting will not cut it or you have run out of ammunition.
Another benefit to knowing how to cut and trim your own feathers is that you can use them to make a number of different fishing flies and lures.
Cut down feathers are generally easier to work with than whole segments of feathers.
For most of us, though, making your own arrow fletchings is one way to restore used arrows and avoid having to buy new arrows.
