How to Create a Food Forest During the Winter

The concept of food forests has been with us for centuries, if not millennia.

By “layering” food types, you can ensure that you use your plot of land to its maximum potential and do not waste space, from under the ground all the way up to the top of trees or shrubs.

You also can plant crops that mature at different times to ensure that your forest always has something ready to eat during the growing months.

Food forests are typically grown in more tropical areas, but with proper planning, you can grow one in the North as well.

Basically, if you have a growing season longer than a few months, you can “build” yourself a food forest.
