Easy DIY Survivalist Fish Trap

One of the key elements to survival in the great outdoors is finding food. Fish serve as an excellent source of protein and are very nutritious. There are several options survivalists can choose from when it comes to fishing and we have reviewed several on this site. You can use spears, spear guns, create a fishing line, use your hands (this one is admirable, but we've never had much success at it ourselves), and many more. Today though we're going to show you how to build a fish trap using dowels and some vine.

The benefit of fishing with a cage is that once you go through the effort of creating your cage, which really isn't much effort at all, you can place the cage in the river, lake or stream and leave it. The cage works on its own and doesn't require your attention or any additional work from you in order to do its job. You can leave the cage in the water, build your tent, take a hike in the woods or drop a few zzz's with a nap. But when you come back 30 minutes to an hour later, you should have dinner waiting for you.

Continue on and we'll show you step-by-step how to make this EASY DIY Survivalist Fish Trap.

Be sure to check into the legality of using the traps if you are trying this in a non-survival situation. Some states heavily regulate the use of them, and in some they are outright illegal.
