It can be overwhelming for a survivalist to choose a rifle when there are so many nice ones to choose from. Ideally, you will find a model that meets all your needs, something that helps you hunt for food, and strong enough to withstands less than ideal situations.
If you're on a tight budget, it may be difficult to find a rifle that meets all your needs. There is one particular rifle that just may surpass your expectations.
You're about to learn more about the Russian Mosin Nagant, a battle rifle that's been around for a long time and it still proves comparable to newer or more expensive models.

Almost $300 on my neck of the woods. The days of the cheap Nugget are gone
Lol
Soviet Union used it as standard carabine in WW2 Moisin Nagant
$100?? Hahahahahahaha!!!
Loved mine (m44), it was new in the box when I bought it I re finished the stock an made it pretty. The bayonet was a great conversation maker an it shot very well and it was easey to clean. Surplus ammo from Eastern block era is still out there and not too expensive.
Very dirty and corrosive though. I prefer regular ammo to surplus.
Yes I agree, but having a bunch on hand an also shooting American made ammo most of the time it worked out. I even had planned on buying stripper clips and a bunch of bandoleers and loading them up to keep readey, but once a good friend offered me a deal an an AK well that whole idea quickly disappeared.

Shows a picture of a Mosin, yet you can scarcely find one for under $200 nowadays…
They were everywhere for $99 5 or 6 years ago then they sky rocketed and many are close to 300 now it’s an awesome rifle too
Too bad you can’t find them under $100 anymore
Supply and demand; Supply dwindled, so the price is going higher and higher. I got mine about a year and a half ago and they were $200-$240. Still great rifles, but unfortunately, you’d be hard pressed to find one $100 or cheaper.
can’t find them under 200 here in ky
Funny thing is Id rather have my mosin than any gun I own that was 5x the price
To bad you cant by gasoline for 35 cents a gallon anymore also…
I got mine for a hundred about 7 years ago
Do you have somewhere you can still get a mosin under 150? If so, please share
I paid 99 for one about 10 years ago and 289.00 for one with a sweet muzzle break 6 months ago

Was never a fan of them
If a person can only afford a milsurp bolt gun, save up and get a Yugo M48 Mauser or Russian-captured K98 Mauser. Action is smoother and faster than a Mosin 91/30.
I have one and an AR, and as far as SHTF, I can see the mosin being the one that survives. I can service my entire rifle (mosin) with one tool. Yeah I paid 175 btw.
Can’t in AR either
You can’t find them for $100 anymore
Where are you shopping? Please, let the masses know.

M-N is maybe the most underrated rifle out there.
Damn I was bout to say … Under 100 and where . I also live in ky damn
I remember buying one at big 5 for $49.00 should have bought a crate of them lol.
They’re damn near invincible, and for what they are, pretty damn accurate as well. I can shoot almost as well with my 91/30 as I can with my AR and I can guarantee it’ll outlive my AR. If all else fails, you can always use them as a club to beat your enemy when you run out of ammo, ha.
I have 3, A Finnish 28/30, A Soviet 43′ 91/30, and A Polish 52′ M44. All are surprisingly accurate or decent. Simple and reliable as Soviet arms are designed to be. Cheap ammo and reasonably still priced. If have been on the fence about getting one,do it before they are gone. Not the more prettiest or refined rifle but if you take care of it enough,it will take care of you. In Soviet Russia, gun takes care of you!!!!
Still a deal at $200
Yes! Please let us know!
I haven’t seen any under a hundred in a long while.
I have a question…what gun should an old woman get…rifle or pistol for self defense and possibly food in the future….she never handled or owned a gun….she always wanted a rifle but is it practicle…thanks
Oh yeah, because I love it when you have to damn near kick the bolt handle between shots to cycle the bolt. I’ve shot 5 or 6 different ones, and they were all the same. Ill stick with my savage 11, M1A, or AR15
Nope 169/200 now it’s gotten ridiculous.
Bought two online from gunbroker a few years ago for $ 99 a piece. Circa 1940 models. They had been in crates and needed some cleaning and TLC but the value of this weapon is overwhelming. I can plink at 300 yards with a 24″ inch plate as a target. Very accurate and reliable. The older ammo is cheap but leave much residue to clean after only firing several rounds. The newer ammo is more expensive but much cleaner to use. A lot of bang for the buck with this rifle. I customized one of them I bought with a modern polymer sniper stock that was a lay in perfect fit for the weapon. Great for long range distance shooting with consistent accuracy . A super value that you can’t go wrong with
Idk, i figured who ever runs this page needs to get with the times.
Mosins have been a cheap surplus survival rifle for decades.
And it aint cheap anymore. My choice is an m1a
Back when I bought my first reconditioned German muesser for 25 $ at a department store down town it was 7mm. Good shooter
I’ll stick to my 110-ba 338. Lapua
A Mosin Nagant for $100? Where?
You guys need to update your info. You may be lucky to find one at an estate sale or something, but still not likely that cheap. I’d jump to grab one for $150.
Mosins were great when they were cheap, and so was the SKS at one time. For the price, you can get a modern bolt action for a little more, in a more common caliber, easier to mount optics and the ability to upgrade the trigger and stock if needed. When the Mosins climbed up in price (just like the collector’s prices for the SKS) I sold them off along with all the ammo and put the money towards something else.
I don’t miss my Mosins at all.
Good luck at that price
Until idiots post this article a million times and demand sky rockets and therefore so does price
Not under $100 anymore. Mre around 200
In my opinion the best shtf gun is a ak47 a remington 870 12ga and a glock 19
