After Doomsday a Prepper Will Eventually Run Out of Ammo. Here’s How to Make Gunpowder the Old Fashioned Way.

Gunpowder

SHTF normally mainly focuses on short-term survival situations where after you're done feeling shocked, it's usually only days or hours before the before the situation is over.

However, not all collapses are temporary. How can a prepper know for certain that when the collapse takes place that it isn't permanent? You never know, a man-made or natural disaster could wipe out everything except for the people who have survived it thanks to their sturdy bunkers.

The potential of a long-term bug out situation is why preppers believe it's so important to understand the skills on how to make essential items such as weapons and specifically, gunpowder.

If a prepper is wise, they will have already been stocking up food to last them a while, however, when it's all used it they will need weapons to help them catch food. When ammunition is gone it's important to know how to make more of it.

On the next page, check out step-by-step instructions on how to make gunpowder for a long-term SHTF situation and add this essential skill to your survival expertise.

Stockpiling helps when the SHTF in more ways as well, say your core group grows, others DON’T have stockpiles but have weapons to help with defense, if I have a couple thousand rounds extra, I share for the common good.

I just purchased 3000 .22 rounds for $35……for my air rifle. 1000fps break barrel. Best bang for your buck for hunting small game

Or you can just get a bow. Arrows are much easier to make and requires no urine.

Who’s gonna wait 10 months to hopefully make the chemical you need, the hopefully mix it right to get black powder… Stock your ammo, don’t waste it when hunting, there’s always bow and arrows….. Also in really bad times be ready to hunt others for their supplies

Are you people saying you can’t survive without a gun? Is that what prepping is all about. How many bullets you got .wow!

Here in the swamps there’s a decent of food supply. Trapping will make a comeback and all the save the animal people will have a decision to make.

    I never believe this.

The poorest 3rd world nations on the planet are filthy with people running around with AKs

There will be ammo for decades

Smokeless powner is nitrocellulose. No phosphorus or magnesium in either propellant.

Roy Johnson I hate throwing names, but are you really so stupid to believe that if the$#%&!@*did hit the fan that everyone would all of the sudden turn hippie, and peace, and love would prevail? I have news for you, human nature being what it is,if you don’t have a way of defending, you’ll have no supplies left. I keep food stocks, water, etc, but I also am a firm believer in being prepared to hunt, and forage to survive, I have a bow, and am very proficient with it, but when EVERYONE is trying to hunt, the game gets scarce, as well as very wary, so a long distance way of killing is preferred . I also believe that if a small group comes to do me harm and steal what I need to survive I need a way to eliminate the threat, and by eliminate I don’t mean scare away with tough talk.

Well remember a true survilist will recognize the fact that it would be most efficient to eat the one you kill

s**t …. I cannot stand the world as it is today! I cannot assume ill like it much better after everything breaks down and people turn into super assholes! Next world has got to be better than this one, so for me its ride till I die, camping FOREVER dont sound like much fun.

Hard truth. You’ll probably die before you use a few hundred rounds defensively in SHTF.

Agreed, and the powder won’t do much good in modern arms…..without primers. They may be a tad more difficult to make.

A smart man has a bow as backup for that scenario$#%&!@* Guns didn’t tame the world. Pointy fucking sticks did. Make gunpowder…..gtfo here with that$#%&!@* I mean it’s “crafty” knowledge….but useless.

Black powder is an explosive, while smokeless is an accelerant. Using black powder in a cartridge results in excessive pressures which can maim, kill and destroy.

Ammo can be a great barter tool. I include it along with all other essentials.

Also, post shtf, we will be lucky to shoot a squirrel to eat, let alone a deer to feed a family for a month.

If something bad enough happened where civilization is wiped out, most Americans and Europeans will be wiped out with it. People are probably not much of a worry.

  23. Chris Millsaps said:

The discussion was after the long guns are out of bullets. Better to be prepared to use your hands when you have no ammo.

Now noiw Billy, let the “bugout rambos” continue thing they are bad asses and when they have all killed themselves struggling to make a poor excuse for gun powder, we just go and take their$#%&!@*
