Being able to fashion your own knife from a hacksaw blade is a skill that could come in handy in a long-term survival situation.

Even if you did not have the optimum tools on hand (grinder, sander, etc.) this is the type of project that in a pinch, you could do by hand.

In a survival setting, knowing how to make your own tools is critical.

Like it or not, all tools dull and eventually break, so if you can make your own, either to use or to barter, you will be one step ahead of almost everyone around you.
