In a survival situation or SHTF moment, your knife is your best friend, even more than your firearm or any other survival tool in your possession.

This is because, bar none, of all your survival gear, you will rely on your knife day in and day out, all day, in multiple situations.

On one recent fishing trip, for instance, I used my pocket knife over two dozen times over the course of 12 hours – imagine if you had to use a knife in a survival situation!

Eventually, however, if the survival situation is long enough, even the best-maintained knife will become dull or unusable.

Ideally, in those situations, you have a back-up, but even those will eventually fail and at that point, if you cannot barter, you have to have a way to make a knife “from scratch.”
