One of the many aspects to consider when roughing it in the wild is the problem of shelter. For bushcrafters, shelter often comes in the form of an A-frame or lean-to utilizing a tarp or branches.
For preppers, shelter can take the form of a bug out cabin, bunker, or, in the process of getting to their bug out location, a simple tarp overhead. But for those who specialize in traditional skills, a shelter is a different animal, entirely.
A traditional mud hut is an often overlooked example for a survival shelter due to the skill and time it takes to make one, but if you have both of these resources, it's probably the most comfortable and longest-lasting shelter you could ever hope to construct.
