5 Reasons Why a Prepper Should Have a Pit Bull as a Companion

pit-bull-and-girl

Like many, we were always advised when getting a dog to stay clear of the more openly vicious dogs like Dobermans, German Shepherds and most especially Pit Bulls. Indeed, we have heard a lot about that last one, how they often attack and will not let go of their prey. How many people have been killed by them!?

While we cannot escape the evidence of these infamous happenings we have to understand that the dogs are often a product of malicious training. Many of these animals were taught to be brutal sport.

Can a dog really be asked to turn that off when suddenly approached by a man or even a child they perceive as a threat? If the dog is a menace we tend to think the owner is the reason.

Yet a well-trained pit bull, a dog who has never been exposed to a brutal environment, is known as one of the bravest and sweetest dogs around!

Don’t believe us? Go to the next page and read up why a prepper should have a pit bull as a companion!

German Shepherds are easier to train and they have a thick coat to keep them warm in the winter. I like most dogs, but I’d prefer a German Shepherd over a Pit Bull. There’s a reason military and law enforcement use German Shepherds more often than Pit Bulls, after all, surely.

Depends on where u live. Down south yea I can see it being a good survival companion, but here up north in mid Mi that dog would likely freeze to death. That’s why I’m going to have to say German shepherd becouse of there thick coats and there battle proven strong.

True, Malinois are good working dogs as well, but they aren’t as intelligent and they have short hair, making them less effective in the cold. A German Shepherd Belgian Malinois mix might be the best, overall.

Only if you habr one trained its whole life to deal with the stresses of “battle” situations…. the majority of GSD pets are neurotic, lunging nervous wrecks who would take off running at the sound of a gunshot.

They aren’t as intelligent? Mals are highly specialized dogs who don’t STOP working… They will destroy everything if their brain isn’t being used. That sounds like more intelligent to me. There’s a reason military and lae enforcement PREFERS Mals and Dutches.

Well ya. Of coarse. German shepards are battle proven as pit bulls… Not so much ik there just now starting to use pit bulls for police forces in some regions but it’s obvious Shepard’s are easier to train.

2 pits recently attacked both my niece and her dog while she was walking her dog. She and her pet survived, looks like both pits will be put down. As always…be careful out there.
